What is it? 

A racial covenant is a clause in a property deed that dictates which races are allowed to own or inhabite the home. While enforcing these covenants became illegal in 1948 after the supreme court decision Shelley v. Kraemer, 68 S. Ct. 836 (1948), these covenants are still in place and are still a part of property deeds today. 

What does it look like?

What can you do to help?

Wyoming House Bill No. HB0091 allows for unconstitutional covenants to be changed by any one homeowner within a neighborhood with a covenant in place. Search your address in the map above to see if you live in a neighborhood with a covenant. If you own land in a covenanted area, this form allows for homeowners to amend the covenant for the entirety of the affected area. You can turn this completed form into the County Clerk. Amending the covenants helps our community be more inclusive and acknowledges the wrongdoings of our past.
